The tram line is now closed between South Terrace, Adelaide and Mosely Square, Glenelg until late January 2026.
There will be substitute bus services during the closure.
This is to allow for major works as part of the Tram Grade Separation Projects which will make the journey safer and more reliable for both road and public transport users.
Closure details
Buses will replace trams during the six-month partial closure, connecting with trams arriving and departing at South Terrace tram stop. Substitute bus services will match the tram frequency and capacity, operating every 10 to 20 minutes during the day and night, and increasing to every 5 minutes during weekday peak periods.
The replacement bus will service substitute bus stops as close to the tram stop as possible. There may be longer travel times with modified routes and more congested traffic conditions, so we encourage you to plan ahead.
Tram services will continue to operate as normal between:
- South Terrace and Royal Adelaide Hospital
- Botanic Gardens and Entertainment Centre

August road closures
To accommodate the works to improve our tram lines, several road closures will be required during August 2025 and throughout the projects.
Doing major work at three locations at once means we can fast-track construction of the overpasses and reduce impacts to the community, road and public transport users.
Road closures will be in place near:
- Marion Road on Tuesday, 12 August, from 12:10 am to 5:00 am.
- Cross Road from Tuesday, 12 August to Wednesday 13 August, each night from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am.
Commuters are encouraged to plan ahead as there will be detours in place during these closures.
For more information and to view the road closure maps, visit www.tgsp.sa.gov.au.
