Common questions
Buy & Go tickets can be used on all buses, trains and trams.
Yes, Buy & Go is available to download throughout Australia and in many other countries and regions, except where governments have imposed their own security instructions.
You can buy up to 10 tickets of the same type, and store up to 100 tickets.
You can buy one 14-Day Pass and/or one 28-Day Pass at a time. Once you have activated a pass, you can buy another one of that type, but you will not be able to activate any new 14-Day or 28-Day Pass until your active pass has expired.
Stored tickets and passes that are not used will expire after 12 months and are non-refundable.
Activating your ticket means converting a Purchased ticket into an Active ticket that is valid to use on public transport. Active tickets include details about the ticket, its expiry time, and a QR code that you must scan on a smart validator when you board or transfer to an Adelaide Metro service.
Important: When activating your ticket, its journey time starts counting down. Make sure you wait until just before you board to activate your ticket.
Yes. You can either activate several tickets individually and scan each active ticket’s QR code on the smart validator, or you can create a batched active ticket for up to five people and scan just one QR code that covers everyone in the batch.
To create a batched active ticket, select up to five purchased tickets, then activate them together. Tickets can be a combination of regular, concession and student fares, but must:
- be the same type of ticket with the same journey time (Singletrip, Daytrip or 3-Day Visitor Pass)
and - have the same travel time (peak or off-peak).
The person who holds the batched active ticket will need to stay with the other passengers in the batch for the whole trip.
You cannot include a 14-Day or 28-Day Pass in a batched active ticket. If you have an active 14-Day Pass or 28-Day Pass, you can continue to use it: just buy, activate and validate any additional tickets for other people separately.
Yes, all Adelaide Metro buses accept Buy & Go tickets as well as metroCARDs and Tap and Pay. While your ticket is valid, you can then transfer to any other bus, train or tram.
Purchased tickets on the Buy & Go app will be stored in your account for 12 months. If you don’t activate these tickets within 12 months, they will expire. Expired tickets are non-refundable.
Active tickets expire when their journey countdown ends. The journey time varies for each ticket type:
- Singletrip: Expires after 2 hours from the time it was activated.
- Daytrip: Expires after one day from the time it was activated (up until 4:00 am the following day).
- 3-Day Visitor pass: Expires after 3 consecutive days from the time it was activated (up until 4:00 am the following day).
- 14-Day pass: Expires after 14 consecutive days from the time it was activated (up until 4:00 am the following day).
- 28-Day pass: Expires after 28 consecutive days from the time it was activated (up until 4:00 am the following day).
