Rethink your recharge

Find out the fastest ways to top up your metroCARD so you’re always good to go!

To ensure you have the funds you need on your metroCARD, when you need them, here are our top tips for recharging…

If you need an instant top up, it’s best to recharge in person at:

  • a metroCARD retailer
  • our InfoCentre (in the Adelaide Railway Station); or
  • an Adelaide Metro vending machine.

If you need a top up within one hour, you can recharge remotely before 7pm on the day you wish to travel:

  • online; or
  • via our InfoLine (1300 311 108).

If you recharge remotely after 7pm, your funds may not be available until the next day.

If you prefer to ‘set and forget’ your top ups, spend a few minutes setting up an auto recharge. As long as the bank account you link to your metroCARD has money available, your metroCARD will always be good to go! You can set up an auto recharge:

  • online
  • via our InfoLine (1300 311 108); or
  • at our InfoCentre (in the Adelaide Railway Station).

Remember:

  • Your recharge funds won’t appear on your metroCARD until you validate.
  • Don't lose your recharge: validate your metroCARD within 90 days! After 90 days your recharge will expire, and you’ll need help via our InfoLine (1300 311 108) or InfoCentre (in the Adelaide Railway Station).
  • If your metroCARD is low on funds and you’re out of time, there are back-up tickets available:
  • on buses and trams you can use Tap and Pay or the Buy & Go app
  • on trains you can buy a MetroTicket. (Tap and Pay and Buy & Go are coming to trains later this year.)
