Face masks no longer required on passenger transport

Face masks will no longer be required when travelling on passenger transport from Tuesday 20 September, in recognition of decreasing COVID-19 case numbers.

Passenger transport includes buses, trains, trams, taxis, rideshare and other hire or charter vehicle arrangements.

People who wish to wear masks on public transport may to continue to do so. Masks continue to provide an extra layer of protection from catching and spreading COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.

Please always be respectful of those who choose to wear a mask.

Do not travel if you are unwell

If you have any symptoms or believe you may have COVID-19, please do not travel on passenger transport if possible.

Buy before you ride

Bus drivers no longer sell paper MetroTickets or accept cash on board buses.

Bus passengers can still use paper MetroTickets but will need to buy it before they catch a bus.

We recommend the switch to a rechargeable metroCARD.

There are many metroCARD retailers across Adelaide and trips on the cards are cheaper than paper MetroTicket fares.

Buy or recharge your metroCARD at your local retailer, or from a vending or recharge machine.

Passenger transport cleaning

Additional cleaning across all passenger transport modes is continuing, using disinfectant products recommended under national health guidelines.

Particular cleaning focus is made to high-touch surfaces such as handrails, validators and push buttons.

Wash. Cover. Avoid

The best protection against infection is hygiene.

WASH your hands with soap and use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser

COVER your coughs and sneezes and dispose of used tissues.

AVOID passenger transport and direct contact with others if you feel unwell.

Check your travel history

If needed, you can check your travel history via your registered metroCARD simply by logging into your online metroCARD account.

Your account history shows the dates and times you validated your metroCARD and the routes you travelled on, unless you are using a 14-day or 28-day unlimited travel pass.

If your metroCARD is not registered with us, we are unable to give you any travel history.

Seniors Card metroCARDs are automatically registered unless you have previously removed your name and address from our system.
