On board

Bicycles/push-bikes

You cannot take bikes on buses or trams. There isn’t enough space for other passengers to move around them safely, or anywhere to secure a bike while the vehicle is moving.

You can take your bicycle on trains. You can secure your bike in an empty wheelchair space during your trip, but you must move it if someone using a mobility aid needs the area.

Refer to the table below for more information.

Cages and lockers

Use our interactive map to locate a bike locker or secure bike cage at a station or interchange.

Bike lockers

Call the Adelaide Metro InfoLine on 1300 311 108 or visit the InfoCentre at the Adelaide Railway Station to:

  • find out if a bike locker is available where you need one
  • put a locker on hold
  • join the waiting list.

To hire a locker, you must pay a $50 deposit, which is refunded to you when you return the key.

Bike cages

Bike cage access is free for public transport users, and must be managed via a registered metroCARD. To set up your access to a bike cage you can contact us by:

  • visiting the InfoCentre at the Adelaide Railway Centre
  • calling the Adelaide Metro InfoLine on 1300 311 108.   Please note that if you call us for bike cage access, you need to validate your metroCARD at a barrier gate or on board a bus, train or tram to load the update to your card before you can unlock a bike cage.

Once you have permission to access bike cages, you can open them by tapping your metroCARD on the validator at the entrance.

Bicycles and helmets are stored at your own risk, so please secure your bike to a rail with an appropriate lock. We don’t recommend you leave anything in the bike cage overnight. Any bikes or accessories left in the cage for more than two weeks will be removed and disposed of
