Closure - Seaford line - weekends only

From Saturday 25 September 2021 to Sunday 10 October 2021
Modes affected:
Routes affected:

A section of the Seaford line will be closed between Adelaide Railway Station and Adelaide Showground Station on:

  • Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September 2021
  • Saturday 2, Sunday 3 and Monday 4 October 2021 (October long weekend)
  • Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October 2021.

Trains will still run between Seaford Interchange and Adelaide Showground Station. Substitute buses will run between Adelaide Showground Station and Adelaide Railway Station.

These closures are due to works on the Gawler Rail Electrification Project, to connect the new overhead electrical wiring for the Gawler line to the existing wiring for the Seaford and Flinders lines. The work cannot be done safely with trains operating within Adelaide Yard. While we try to have as few closures as we can, these temporary closures need to be done to keep our passengers and workers safe.

As these closures will be in place during the SANFL Grand Final, there will be extra substitute buses for the event. Please plan ahead and allow for extra travel time.

Substitute routes and stops

We will always try to provide enough services to meet the timetable. However, traffic conditions, roadworks, and accidents may cause delays in the frequency of substitute buses.

  • The N4 service will operate between Adelaide Showground Station and Adelaide Railway Station.

Substitute buses will stop at substitute bus stops that will be located as close to the railway stations as possible. You can find substitute bus stop locations in the timetables below.

Weekends and public holidays:

Wheelchair, mobility aid and pram passengers

Substitute buses are accessible for people with wheelchairs, mobility aids and prams. If you are unable to board the bus directly, the driver can set up a ramp for you to use.

If you use a large mobility device that does not fit on Adelaide Metro buses, contact Busways’ Lonsdale depot at 7260 0100 to request an accessible taxi. This service is available from train station to train station only and not a door-to-door service.

Bicycle passengers

Bicycles are not allowed on buses for safety reasons – there is not enough space for people to move around them or anywhere to secure them.
