When: From Monday 3 August 2020

Adelaide Oval will be hosting a range of upcoming 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season matches.

Catch the FREE Don't Drink and Drive Footy Express bus, train or tram services with your valid AFL game day ticket.

All regular Adelaide Metro weekend bus, train and tram services are also free with your AFL game day ticket from first to last service on game day.

Regular Adelaide Metro weeknight bus, train and tram services are free three hours prior to the game start time with your AFL game day ticket.

Bus services

Footy Express bus services
Footy Express bus services will be operating before and after the match, in addition to regular Adelaide Metro bus services.

As the game starts at 4.05pm, please view the 4.05/4.10pm service details in the Footy Express bus timetable (PDF 279KB)

Footy Express bus services will set down and pick up at the Footy Express Interchange (PDF 138KB) on King William Road, with some services using Victoria Drive and Sir Edwin Smith Avenue.

Please note:

  • Due to Festival Plaza construction works the following Footy Express Interchange stops have been temporarily relocated further south:
    • AO19 moved to AO21/AO22 bus stop location.
    • AO21/22 moved to AO23 bus stop location.
    • AO23 moved to AO31 bus stop location and combined with AO31.

Regular Adelaide Metro bus services
Patrons can also access free travel all day on regular Adelaide Metro bus services with a valid match ticket.

Regional bus services
Regional buses will drop off and pick up on Pennington Terrace.

 

Train services

Footy Express train services
Footy Express train services will be operating before and after the match, in addition to regular Adelaide Metro train services.

Please note:

  • Footy Express train services will not operate on the Tonsley line for the 2020 AFL Season, but regular Adelaide Metro train services will operate on weeknights.

Footy Express trains operate to and from Adelaide Railway Station, a short walk across the River Torrens Footbridge to Adelaide Oval.

Patrons can also access free travel all day on regular Adelaide Metro train services with a valid match ticket.

Tram travel tips:

The closest tram stops to Adelaide Oval are:

  • Festival Plaza Tram Stop on King Williams Road (which only operates on weekends and for Adelaide Oval special events).
  • Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop on North Terrace. 
  • The Tram Network Map (PDF 91KB) shows where the above tram stops are located.

Check the destination sign! Electronic destination signs are located on the front and side of all trams. Always check these signs to ensure you’re boarding the correct service to get to where you need to go.

Heading to the event:

  • From the East End of the city (Botanic Gardens): Catch Botanic line trams and disembark at the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop.
  • From the Southern side of the city (Glenelg): Catch Festival Plaza line trams and disembark at the Festival Plaza Tram Stop, or catch Glenelg line trams and disembark at the Adelaide Railway Station tram stop.
  • From the Western side of the city (Entertainment Centre): Catch Glenelg line trams or Botanic line trams and disembark at the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop.

Leaving the event:

  • To the East End of the city (Botanic Gardens): Catch Botanic line trams from the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop and disembark at your preferred stop.
  • To the Southern side of the city (Glenelg): Catch Glenelg line trams from the Festival Plaza Tram Stop and disembark at your preferred stop.
  • To the Western side of the city (Entertainment Centre): Catch Glenelg line trams or Botanic line trams from the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop and disembark at your preferred stop.

Protecting public transport customers

Every effort will be made to provide additional capacity on bus, train and tram services and we ask customers to be patient and maintain physical distancing as much as possible.

Customers will also need to exercise judgement as to how they travel and act in accordance with health advice; practice hygiene measures, cough into tissues or the crook of your arm and use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser and wash your hands.
