SANTOS Tour Down Under

The Santos Tour Down Under runs from Thursday 16 to Sunday 26 January across various regions of Adelaide and South Australia.

Some Adelaide Metro buses will be detoured during this event.

Thursday 16 January - Hahndorf to Macclesfield

Friday 17 January - Murray Bridge to Birdwood

Saturday 18 January - Nairne to Stirling

Thursday 16 January

Women’s Tour Down Under Stage 1 – Hahndorf to Macclesfield

Start 10.00am - Mt Barker Road, Hahndorf

Finish 1.26pm - Venables Street / Strathalbyn Road, Macclesfield

Distance 116.3km

Due to the running of the Women’s Tour Down Under Stage 1, Mt Barker Road, Hahndorf from Pine Avenue to Auricht Road will be closed from 7am to 12pm on Thursday 16 January.

Regular Hills bus services will detour as follows. Transfer to a Hahndorf Shuttle Bus is available.

Inbound 835 – 835A - 841F – 860F – 864 – 864F services:

From stop 62 Adelaide Road, buses will travel via their normal route to Verdun Junction stop 49 then left South Eastern Freeway, left Bridgewater Ramp, right Carey Gully Road, right South Eastern Freeway, left Hahndorf Ramp, left Mt Barker Road and normal running.

Down/Outbound 835 – 864 – 864F Services:

From stop 50 Mt Barker Road, buses will travel via their normal route to Adelaide Road stop 62 then right South Eastern Freeway, left Bridgewater Ramp, right Carey Gully Road, right South Eastern Freeway, left Mt Barker Ramp, right Adelaide Road then normal running.

Catch the Hahndorf Shuttle Bus.

Hahndorf Shuttle Bus

A Shuttle bus will depart Adelaide Road stop 62, Mt Barker and travel to Hahndorf via Mt Barker Road, Auricht Road, Pine Avenue and Mt Barker Road to Verdun Junction. Passengers can transfer to city bound 864F services here. The Shuttle will return via the reverse of the above route.

Shuttle times

The Hahndorf Shuttle will run every 15 minutes from 6am to 9.30am and every 30 minutes from 9.30am to 12pm midday. 

Closed bus stop

Bus stop 55 Mt Barker Road, Hahndorf will be closed. Please go to stop 56 for Hahndorf Shuttle buses for transfer to usual services at stop 49 Verdun Junction or stop 62 Adelaide Road.

Friday 17 January

Women’s Tour Down Under Stage 2 – Murray Bridge to Birdwood

Start 10.00am – Bridge Street, Murray Bridge

Finish 1.26pm – Torrens Valley Road, Birdwood

Distance 114.9km

No Adelaide Metro bus detours will take place during this stage.

The following Link SA bus routes will be affected by detours.

Routes 805, 806 and 807 will not be able to service the Murray Bridge Info Centre stop.

Routes 800, 800C, 801, 801H, 801B, 802, 802C & 803 will not be able to service the Birdwood Post Office stop.

Saturday 18 January

Women’s Tour Down Under Stage 3 – Nairne to Stirling

Start 10.00am – Old Princes Highway, Nairne (at Junction Street)

Finish 1.07pm – Mount Barker Road, Stirling

From Aldgate via Mt Barker Road to stop 39, then right Gould Rd, left Pomona Rd, right Mt Barker Road to temporary stop located on Stirling on ramp, continue normal route.

Outbound - Routes 863, 864, 864F

From Stirling temporary stop, left Pomona Rd, right Gould Rd, left Mt Barker Road, then normal route.

Inbound – Route 865S

All services that would normally depart from stop 36 Mt Barker Road will depart from Temporary Stop Freeway exit then left turn Pomona Road and normal running.

Outbound – Route 865S

Buses will travel normal route to Stirling round-about then right turn to temporary inbound stop 36.

Sunday 19 January

Tour Down Under Classic – Adelaide city

Start 6.45pm – Flinders Street, Adelaide

Finish 7.46pm – Flinders Street, Adelaide

Trams

From 3pm, trams from Glenelg to Royal Adelaide Hospital and Festival Plaza will operate to a 7-8 minutes frequency.

Services will return to operate to the normal weekend timetable from 8pm on Sunday 19 January.

Monday 20 January

“Tourriffic” Street Party

Due to the City of Prospect “Tourrific” Street Party event, a section of Prospect Road will be closed to all traffic including Adelaide Metro buses from 7am to last bus on Monday 20 January.

All G10 buses in both directions will be detoured during this time as follows:

Inbound buses to the city

Via Prospect Road, right Gladstone Road, left Churchill Road, left Torrens Road, left Fitzroy Terrace, right Prospect Road, O’Connell Street the via normal route.

Outbound buses from the city

From O’Connell Street via Prospect Road, left Fitzroy Terrace, right Torrens Road, right Churchill Road, right Gladstone Road, left Prospect Road then via normal route.

Missed bus stops

Prospect Road bus stops 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 will be closed from 7am until last bus on Monday 20 January. Please go to Prospect Road stop 13, O’Connell Street stop 6 or stops on Churchill Road during this time.

Council shuttle

The City of Prospect will run a free shuttle bus between the North Park Shops and the northern end of the event site from 5.30pm to 10.30pm.

Tuesday 21 January

ZIPTRAK Stage 1: Tanunda - Tanunda

Start 11am - Murray Street/Barossa Valley Way, Tanunda

Finish 2.45pm - Murray Street/Barossa Valley Way, Tanunda

Distance 150km

No Adelaide Metro bus detours will take place during this stage.

Murray Street, Tanunda will be closed to all traffic between 4am and 7pm.

 

Wednesday 22 January

NovaTech Stage 2: Woodside – Stirling

Start: 11am – Onkaparinga Valley Road, Woodside

Finish: 2.23pm – Mount Barker Road, Stirling

Nairne:                

Onkaparinga Valley Road from Jacaranda Drive to Nairne Road will be closed to all traffic from 6am to 3.30pm.

Inbound - Routes 830F, 834, 835

From Onkarpainga Valley Road, left Jacaranda Drive, right Ridge Road, right Tolmer Road, left Nairne/Woodside Road then via normal running.

Outbound - Routes 830F, 834, 835

From Nairne/Woodside Road, right Tolmer Road, left Ridge Road, left Jacaranda Drive, right Onkaparinga Valley Drive then via normal running.

Stirling:

Mount Barker Road from Merrion Terrace to Gould Road will be closed from 6am to 7pm.

Druid Avenue will be closed from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

Inbound - Routes 863/F, 864/F, T863, 894, 893

From Aldgate via Mt Barker Road to stop 39, then right Gould Rd, left Pomona Rd, right Mt Barker Road to a temporary stop located on Stirling on ramp then via normal route.

Inbound – Route 865, 822 services

All services that would normally depart from stop 36 Mt Barker Road will depart from Temporary Freeway exit stop then left at Pomona Road and normal route.

Thursday 23 January

Subaru Stage 3: Unley – Paracombe

Start: 11am – King William Road, Unley

Finish 2.27pm – Paracombe Road, Paracombe

King William Road, Hyde Park will be closed for all traffic including route 200, 200B and 200C buses from 6am Wednesday 22 January until 1.30pm Thursday 23 January.

Buses will detour as follows: 

  • Outbound from the city: Via Peacock Rd, left Greenhill Rd, right Unley Rd, right Northgate St, left Victoria Ave then normal route. Bus will service all stops along Unley Road.
  • Inbound buses to the city: Via Victoria Ave, right Northgate St, over King William Rd, left Unley Rd, left Greenhill Rd, right Peacock Rd then normal route. Bus will service all stops along Unley Road.

Missed bus stops

King William Road bus stops 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be closed. Please go to K1 King William Road, O2 Peacock Road or stop 9 Unley Road, stop 9 Victoria Avenue or any stop along Unley Road.

* Please note The Parade, Norwood will be closed from 9am on Thursday 23 January to 1.30pm on Friday 24 January for a day/night closure. See details listed under Friday 24 January.

Free community shuttle

A free community bus shuttle will run every 10-15 minutes from 2pm to 5pm on Wednesday 22 January and 8am to 12noon on Thursday 23 January.

The bus will operate in a loop between Northgate Street and Greenhill Road terminating near Tram stop 1 Greenhill Road. You can hail and ride the bus from any location along the route or wait at bus stops.

Norwood On Tour Street Party

The Norwood On Tour Street Party will take place from 5pm to 10pm on Thursday 23 January on The Parade, Norwood. This is a free family event features outdoor experiences showcasing food, wine and beverages, live music and children’s entertainment.

Friday 24 January

SouthAustralia.com Stage 4: Norwood – Murray Bridge

The Parade, Norwood will be closed to all traffic including 140, H20, H21, H22, H23 and H24 buses between Osmond Terrace and Portrush Road from 9am Thursday 23 January to 1.30pm Friday 24 January.

Buses will detour as follows:

  • H20-H20C-H20R-H21-H22-H22C-H22L-H24 to the city:  From The Parade, right Portrush Rd, left Magill Rd, left Osmond Tce, right The Parade then normal route. 
  • H20-H21-H22-H24 from the city: From The Parade, left Osmond Tce, right Magill Rd, right Portrush Rd, left The Parade then normal route. 
  • H23 to the city:  From Portrush Rd, over The Parade, left Magill Rd, left Osmond Tce, right The Parade then normal route.
  • H23, 140 from the city: From The Parade, left Osmond Tce, right Magill Rd, right Portrush Rd (service Stop 145), over The Parade then normal route.

The Parade stops 8, 9 and 10 will be closed from 9am Thursday 23 January to 1.30pm Friday 24 January.

Murray Bridge

Railway Terrace, Murray Bridge will be closed between Mannum Road and Bridge Street between 6am and 7pm.

Link SA buses will be required to detour via:

Inbound: From Mannum Road via right Adelaide Road, left Standon Street to stop 1, continue via Verdun Street, right Mulgundawah Road then normal route.

Outbound: From Swanport Road continue straight into Mannum Road.

The Infocentre and railway station stops will not be serviced.
