ALERT: Tram driver training from Monday 16 July

Tram Driver Training

As the City Tram Extension Project is nearing completion, driver training will start from Monday 16 July.

Driver training will be conducted on the full tram network, including the new sections of track along North Terrace to East Terrace, and King William Road to the Festival Plaza precinct. Please note, additional trams will be on the network.

Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution while training is carried out on the new section of the network.

These training trams will not be in passenger service. Please refer to the current tram timetable to plan your journey.

New trams in the city from Sunday 29 July 

Passenger services on the City Tram Extension are scheduled to commence from Sunday 29 July.

The new tram timetable (PDF 276KB) is now available for download and print, and will be available in real time and via the metroMATE app from Sunday 29 July.

New tram destinations

The City Tram Extension now delivers trams to these new destinations:

  • Glenelg to Royal Adelaide Hospital and return
    • limited peak services operate to and from the Entertainment Centre
  • Entertainment Centre to Botanic Gardens and return
  • Glenelg to Festival Plaza and return
    • weekends and Adelaide Oval event days only

New tram stops

The City Tram Extension has four new tram stops:

  • Art Gallery
  • University
  • Botanic Gardens
  • Festival Plaza (weekends and Adelaide Oval event days only)

Additionally, the "West Terrace" tram stop has been renamed "Royal Adelaide Hospital".
