2018 MAC Footy Express Services

When: From Thursday 14 June 2018

FREE MAC Footy Express services are the best way to get to and from the game

Next game: Round 13 - Port Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs 14 June 7.20pm

Your ticket to any AFL game at Adelaide Oval is also your ticket to FREE travel on MAC Footy Express bus, train and tram services operated by Adelaide Metro in partnership with the Motor Accident Commission (MAC).

MAC Footy Express services make things easy for you and will get you to and from the game safely and conveniently. So leave the car at home and get a free ride to the game.

All regular Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services are also free with your AFL game day ticket*.

MAC Footy Express Bus and train timetable information is available below.

Please note the new tram stops on King William Road by Festival Theatre and eastern end of North Terrace will not be operational for round 13.  

*For weeknight games - the free travel period for normal Adelaide Metro scheduled services applies 3 hours prior to the game start time. For weekend games the free travel period is from first to last service.

MAC Footy Express Bus Services

MAC Footy Express bus services operate across metropolitan Adelaide. 

  • Services set down and pick up at the Interchange on King William Road, with some services using Victoria Drive and Sir Edwin Smith Avenue - see the MAC Footy Express Interchange Map (PDF 155KB) for details. Some other service zones have moved slightly to allow room for the new tram stop. 
  • Last services depart the Interchange up to one hour after the final siren. Check the MAC Footy Express Guide or your service below for details. 
  • MAC Footy Express services will drop off at some regular city stops in the city before the game, and where requested along route after the game.

MAC Footy Express train services

MAC Footy Express train services operate to a very high frequency to and from Adelaide Railway Station, a short walk to Adelaide Oval.

MAC Footy Express Tonsley train services will continue to operate in 2018 - see timetable for details

Please note that Station Road, next to Adelaide Railway Station is closed and works around the Festival Plaza Precinct is continuing in 2018. Please pay attention to signage in the area for access.

Festival Plaza upgrade works are continuing in 2018 - please check signage in the area for directions if required.

Regular Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services

All regular Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services are also free with your AFL game day ticket from first to last service on game day*, so why not head into the city early or stay later to enjoy more of what Adelaide city has to offer?

*Weekend games only. For weeknight games: the free travel period for normal Adelaide Metro scheduled services applies 3 hours prior to the game start time. 

The Tea Tree Plaza Park 'n' Ride will have a flat $2 fee when using a metroCARD to exit the Park 'n' Ride, otherwise normal fees apply.

The St Agnes Park 'n' Ride is open 24 hours a day. 

Taxi Ranks

There will be temporary taxi ranks installed for this event at the following locations:

  • King William Road - western side, south of Pennington Terrace
  • Pennington Terrace - southern side, east of main car park entry and opposite on the northern side
  • Montefiore Road eastern side, north of War Memorial Drive
  • War Memorial Drive, east of Montefiore Drive (disabled only)
  • Casino taxi rank will be closed from 9.45pm to 11.15pm

Closed bus stops

Stop 2 Montifiore Road to the city - will be relocated to just south of War Memorial Drive on the Morphett Street bridge from 4.30pm

9.15pm to 11.15pm

  • A2 and A3 King William Road   
  • Z1 and Z2 King William Road - buses will stop at Y2 King William Street
  • 1 King William Road – east and west
  • 1 Sir Edwin Smith Avenue - north side

Road Closures

Between 3.15pm and 11.15pm

  • War Memorial Drive - between King William Road and pedestrian footbridge

Between 9.15pm to 11.15pm (buses excepted)

  • King William Road - between North Terrace and War Memorial Drive
  • Victoria Drive - between King William Road and Kintore Avenue
  • Sir Edwin Smith Avenue – between Pennington Terrace and King William Road
  • Pennington Terrace - between King William Road and Montefiore Road (taxis excepted)

Between 9.45pm to 11.15pm (buses and trams excepted)

  • North Terrace - between King William Street and Victoria Street
