SENIORS TRAVEL
Interstate holders of Seniors Cards are entitled to travel using concession tickets. Interstate Seniors Cards and Vision Impairment* Travel Passes are accepted.
* For W.A. Travel Passes without a photo I.D., a temporary pass can be obtained from the Adelaide Metro InfoCentre.
STUDENT TRAVEL
Public Transport Services Division of the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure is responsible for administering South Australian full-time secondary and tertiary identification cards. A valid card entitles the holder to travel at concession rates on all Adelaide Metro bus, tram and train services.
Recognised Full-Time Tertiary Student Identification Cards
Only two types of tertiary cards are recognised by the Adelaide Metro for concession travel:
- a fully laminated photographic identification card; or
- a plastic credit card style photographic identification card issued by the Tertiary Institution of attendance endorsed with either a silver hologram Public Transport Services Division sticker or the expiry date printed on the card.
The expiry date is printed on the bottom right hand corner of either card.
Use of Full-Time Student Identification Cards
Students aged 15 and over are required to carry and show identification cards. These cards must be carried at all times when travelling, including evenings and weekends. Failure to produce a valid identification card when requested by an authorised person will result in the regular fare being charged and an expiation notice (‘on the spot fine’) being issued. Children under the age of 15 may be asked to produce proof of age. If proof of age cannot be produced, a regular fare ticket may be required to be purchased.
Part-time secondary and tertiary student cards are not accepted and students can not travel at concession rates.
