Seniors Metrocard

metrocard for South Australian Seniors Card holders

New Seniors Metrocard

If you are an existing Seniors Card holder or have applied for a Seniors Card the Seniors Card Unit will issue you with a new Seniors Card by mail.

The new Seniors Card which features the Adelaide Metro logo is also a metrocard. You can use your Seniors Card to travel on the public transport network free of charge during the free travel times. Green Seniors metrotickets are no longer issued.

You can also add value ($) to your Seniors Card for trips outside the free travel time. Any value ($) you add to your Seniors Card is protected if your card is accidentally lost or stolen.

If you are at least 60 years of age, a permanent resident of South Australia and not working more than 20 hours per week in paid employment, you can apply for a Seniors Card.

For more information or to apply for the South Australian Seniors Card, visit the Seniors Card page of the sa.gov.au website or phone 1800 819 961 (freecall).

How to use your Seniors Card on public transport

Just touch your Seniors Card to the validator when you board between 9.01am and 3pm weekdays or all day weekends and public holidays for a free trip.
You’ll also need to touch your Seniors Card on the gates when entering and exiting Adelaide Railway Station.

Travelling outside these times

If you travel before 9.01am and after 3pm on weekdays simply add value ($) to your Seniors Card or purchase a Concession singletrip metroticket onboard a bus, train or tram.
