Welcome to Adelaide Metro's first and official public transport app, metroMATE!

If there is something you’re not sure about, we should have the answer for you below.

If you don't find the answer you need, contact us for help with your issue.

How do I add and save a new destination for the first time?

  • When opening metroMATE for the first time the “Add a Destination” screen will appear

  • Tap on the “Home” icon and search for your Home address
  • Once found, tap "Done"
  • A tick will appear over the "Home" icon indicating that your Home destination has now been saved
  • Other destinations can be added:
    • Work
    • School
    • Sporting venues
    • Shopping
    • Park
    • Entertainment
    • Health activities
    • Beaches
    • Art and history
  • Once you have added all of your destinations, click "Finish

How do I add and save more destinations later on?

  • Tap the  search icon at the top right of the screen 
    • If the search is not showing any results, try typing adding more detail
  • Tap the destination you want to add. This will open in the home screen
  • Tap “Save destination”

  • Your destination is now saved to your home screen

How do I view and edit my saved destinations?

  • Tap the list icon on the bottom right of your home screen
  • Your saved destinations are listed in the order they appear on your home screen
  • To edit your saved destinations, tap the arrows icon in the top right hand corner
  • To delete a destination, tap the red circle icon to the left of the destination
    • “Delete” will appear on the right of that destination. Tap “Delete”

  • To rearrange your saved destinations, tap and drag the lines icon to the right of the destination
    • You can drag destinations to change the order they appear on your home screen

  • When finished editing your saved destinations, tap “Done” in the top right hand corner
  • Tap the “X” in the top left hand corner to return to the home screen

What does all the information mean on the home screen?

  • The hamburger icon in the top left of the screen is the "Menu" button
    • Tapping on this button will take you to:
      • Tutorial
      • Help
      • Report issue
      • Submit app feedback
      • About
      • Terms and Conditions
  • The "Search" magnifying glass icon in the top right corner takes you to the "Where are you going?" screen
  • The next screen with the picture is your "Destination" screen

  • When you tap on the black "Leave now from" bar, you will be taken to the Route "Starting from" location screen
    • Here you can select your journey time and transport options

  • The next screen is your Journey Options
  • Tapping on an option will give you your journey overview map and "Start Journey" button

What are the Journey Options?

  • The first line are the icons representing your walking distance (if application), your bus, train or tram icon and then any further walking to your destination

  • The next set of icons are your bus, train or tram icon, your route number and your destination

  • The next line indicates when your bus, train or tram is scheduled to depart and the stop number it is departing from

  • Note: The radar icon means that the departure time of the vehicle is shown in real time

  • "Arrive" shows when your bus, train or tram will arrive at your chosen destination

  • "Leave within ... minutes" indicates when you should leave your current location to walk to your public transport stop destination in time for your bus, train or tram. This isnot the time the bus, train or tram leaves

How can I plan a journey?

  • Tap the "Search" magnifying glass icon in the top right corner of the home screen
    • This will take you to the "Destination" screen to select "Where are you going?"

  • Search for your destination by typing in an address in the white bar

  • Select the desired destination
    • It will open in your Home Screen (see above for Home Screen details)
  • Under the destination name and image, a list of four journey options will be displayed
  • Select one of the four journey options by tapping on it
  • A map of your journey will appear
    • If your vehicle is due to arrive within 30 minutes, a colored vehicle location box will appear
    • Click this box to zoom to your vehicle location which is tracked using real time GPS coordinates
  • Select "Start Journey" to commence your journey
  • Your journey commences by travelling from your current location to the first public transport stop
    • Your walking time duration (if applicable) will be displayed
  • By swiping left, you can see the rest of your journey and travel times

How do I change my start location?

  • The app uses GPS coordinates to identify your current location
  • You can change your start location by tapping on the "Current Location" bar in the "Where are you going?" screen

  • This will take you to the "Where are you starting?" screen

  • Here you can enter your "Start Location" or tap on a Saved Favourite location
  • You can also change your start location by tapping on the Options bar located above the four journey options where "Leave now from" is shown

  • A window will open displaying travel options
  • Under "ROUTE" tap the "Starting from" bar

  • The "Where are you starting" location search window will now appear

  • Type in your start location or tap a saved favourite you want to leave from
  • Your starting location will indicate your change

How do I change my starting time?

  • Tap of the options bar located above the four journey options where "Leave now from" is the default
    • A window will open displaying travel options
  • Under "ROUTE" and under the starting from location you will see the following

  • By tapping one of these, you can change your travel date and time
  • Tap on done
  • Your leave times will change and a new list of travel options will be provided

I prefer to catch either a bus, train or tram.

  • Tap the options bar located above the four journey options where "Leave now from" is the default
    • A window will open displaying travel options
  • Tap "TRANSPORT" to open the vehicle options for bus / train / tram

  • Select your preferred vehicle options then "Done"
Transport options - Q9c
  • Your preferred mode/s of transport appear, and by eliminating what you prefer the transport options will return results for your considered preferences

Why does the vehicle selection show me options other than vehicle modes I have selected?

  • The transport options selected are considered as your preferences, however if a suitable journey is not available via your preferred method of transport, you will be offered the best journey options for the selected time.

How do I report issues?

  • Issues can be reported via the "Report issue" menu item.
  • Tap on the on the menu icon (3 horizontal lines) in the top left hand corner.
  • Tap on the “Report issue” menu item. This will generate a blank email.
  • Type the details of your issue.
  • Tap “Send”, on the top right hand corner.

How do I submit feedback or suggestions?

  • Feedback can be submitted through the "Submit app feedback" form
  • Tap on the menu icon in the top right hand corner.
  • Tap on the "Submit app feedback" menu item.
  • Fill out the form.
  • Tap "Submit" to forward your feedback.

How do I set alarms or alerts?

  • Alarms can be set for each destination from your home page
  • Go to your preferred destination and wait for the four journey options to display
  • A blue alarm icon will display to the right of each journey option

  • Press the alarm icon to set an alarm for the time you need to leave eg. Leave with ... mins

  • When it is time to leave, your alarm will go off
  • Make sure you have push notifications turned on through your Settings so you see your alarm

How can I see the location of my vehicle?

  • The location of your vehicle can be viewed on the map within 30 minutes of the service arrival time by using "Start my journey"
    • Select one of the four journey options by tapping on it
    • A map of your journey will appear.
    • Within 30 minutes of service arrival, a coloured icon will appear on the map indication how far away your vehicle is using real time GPS coordinates
