Welcome to Adelaide!

Here are some useful public transport hints and tips for getting around Adelaide using Adelaide Metro trains, trams and buses.

Visiting the city centre

A dedicated Cruise Ship passenger shuttle runs express between Outer Harbor and Adelaide to cater for the specific demand of Cruise Ship passengers.

Purchase your special Cruise Ship metroCARD at the Outer Harbor Railway Station and get around Adelaide all day for just $10!

FREE City Connector – explore Adelaide by bus

Two free City Connector bus services operate around Adelaide and North Adelaide, linking you to popular attractions, shopping, dining and destinations.

The 98A and 98C connect North Adelaide and the city seven days a week, while the 99A and 99C connect the inner city on weekdays. Together the two loops provide a 15 minute service Monday to Friday. Visit the City Connector webpage for information.

Visiting Port Adelaide

If you are a bit pressed for time, Port Adelaide is a hive of maritime and rail history. The H1 Outer Harbor bus service will get you there in around 30 minutes from bus stop 66 across from the Cruise Ship Terminal.

Your ticket to ride - metroCARD

Purchase the special Cruise Ship Metrocard at the Outer Harbor railway station and get around Adelaide all day for just $10. This metroCARD entitles holders to unlimited travel on Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services all day, and you can keep your card at the end of your travels as a memento of your time in Adelaide. 

On weekends, school holidays and public holidays two children under 15 years of age travel free when accompanied by an adult using a Cruise Ship metrocard/daytrip ticket.

Are you a Seniors Card holder?

Anyone who holds a valid Australian State or Territory Seniors Card is eligible to access free travel on all Adelaide Metro trains, trams and buses at these times:

Monday to Friday 

  • before 7.00am
  • between 9.01am and 3.00pm
  • after 7.01pm

Saturday, Sunday and public holidays

  • all day

Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram fares, tickets and concessions.

Train information

For a fast and easy option to get around the Adelaide metropolitan area, catch any of our Adelaide Metro train services.

Tram information

Adelaide Metro trams run every 10 minutes between the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and the popular Glenelg Beach area via the city.

Tram travel between the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and South Terrace in the city centre is free!

You can board the tram right in front of the Adelaide Railway Station and approximately 40 minutes later, enjoy some shopping on Jetty Road, Glenelg or a quick dip in the ocean.
