Increased use of public transport plays a key role in improving South Australia’s environmental sustainability.

In fact, one of the primary environmental targets from the South Australian State Strategic Plan is to reduce our reliance on cars in the metropolitan area by walking, cycling and increasing our use of public transport.

For more information about the State Strategic Plan visit the South Australia's Strategic Plan website.

Cycling is supported by Adelaide Metro in the following ways:

Bikes on trains

For more information on when, where and how much it costs to take your bike with you visit the Bikes page.

Bike Journey Planner

The CycleInstead Journey Planner creates cycling journeys using Adelaide’s Bikedirect network of main roads, bike lanes, local streets, off road paths and some unsealed paths.
