Bus Service Performance

Adelaide Metro bus services are provided by three private bus contractors:

  • Transfield (Light City Buses)
  • Australia Transit Enterprises (SouthLink)
  • Transit Systems (Torrens Transit)

Performance Monitoring

Public Transport Services in the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure monitors the performance of the contracted bus operators to ensure that the standard of service meets community needs. Services are monitored against performance thresholds, particularly in relation to on-time running and reliability. Public Transport Services monitors regular bus services through an ongoing program of audits of services.

Bus contractors are required to ensure that:

  • services run no more than 59 seconds before and no more than 4 minutes and 59 seconds after the time stated in the timetable;
  • scheduled services run;
  • services meet connecting services;
  • vehicle condition meets service requirements;
  • driver standards are met; and
  • compliance with process and reporting requirements.

Public Transport Services will publish quarterly reports on the performance results for bus operators.
